New guidebooks to assist Taiwan volunteer translators and interpreters working with the Republic of the Marshall Islannds (RMI) judicial system in the Marshall Islands were introduced at a dedication ceremony September 5 in Majuro. Three National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) graduate students, who completed a month-long research assignment, joined Jonna Cheng-Chia HUNG, Taiwan ICDF Volunteer, in the presentation of the two documents.

ROC (Taiwan) Ambassador George T.K. Li, Hon. James Plasman of the High Court, Attorney General Filimon Manoni, Assistant Attorney General Jack Jorbon, and Leader of Taiwan ICDF Technical Mission (Laura Farm) Kevin Chen attended the presentation.

The documents,“Guidance for Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) Volunteer served as Translator and Interpreter in the Republic of the Marshall Islands” and “Legal Interpreting Research and Practicum: A Program in the Republic of the Marshall Islands-A Brief Report,” were dedicated to H.E. Ambassador Li and RMI Attorney General Manoni.
Jonna Hung, who has worked as Interpreter and Translator in the RMI Office of the Attorney General, concludes her service next month, and will be succeeded by ICDF volunteer Liang-Ling KUO on October 17, 2012.

Taiwan ICDF has enjoyed a long working relationship mainly with the Office of the Attorney General and the College of the Marshall Islands through dispatching its volunteers to serve in the Marshall Islands, according to the Taiwan Embassy in Majuro.
